Estancia High’s Eagles will defend their Garden Grove League
championship tonight at 7:30 following the dismantling of Whitney
Friday evening to the tune of 84-43.
The Eagles, who meet the winner of Friday’s Western-Santa Ana
matchup, were led by the 35-point scoring of Carlos Pinto, whose
career-high output included five three-pointers.
“The only one who could stop him was me,” said Estancia Coach
Chris Sorce, who played Pinto for some 10 minutes in the first half
and less than five minutes in the second half. “He could have had at
least 50 points.”
Also with solid efforts were Jordan Stroman off the bench with 11
points and nine rebounds, and Matt Cachola, who had seven assists.
The victory improves Estancia’s record to 7-1. Whitney left with
its first defeat of the season after six victories.
