Newport Harbor High senior Kristin McClune, who led the Sailors to
the league championship, has been named Most Valuable Player by Sea
View League coaches.
McClune, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker bound for Pepperdine, is among
five Newport Harbor players recognized, including first-team
all-league honorees Lauren Miller and Alyson Jennings.
McClune was a first-team all-league pick as a junior, when she
also collected first-team All-CIF Southern Section laurels.
Miller, a 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter, and Jennings, a 5-8
junior opposite, helped the Tars win the CIF Southern Section
Division II-AA championship and advance to the final of the Southern
California Division II regionals.
Jennings was second-team all-league as a sophomore.
Senior Whitney George and junior Emily Turner represented the
Sailors on the second team.
