Lions win GSAC opener

Senior Courtney McKinney came off the bench and scored a
career-high and game-high 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead
the Vanguard University women’s basketball team to a 89-71 win over
visiting California Baptist, in the Golden State Athletic Conference
opener for both teams.
Cal Baptist (2-3, 0-1 in conference) trailed, 65-62, with 4:16
left. But, the Lions broke out on a 24-9 run in the final four
minutes to complete the 18-point victory. Vanguard senior Robbin
Dittenbir added 15 points and 13 rebounds to help the Lions improve
to 4-2 this season.
In addition to Dittenbir and McKinney, three more Vanguard players
also scored in double figures, as senior Jessica Lenderman
contributed 15 points, freshman Cecilia Josefsson had 14 and
sophomore Lacey Mills finished with 12 points.
