Coast runners sparkle

ORANGE -- Orange Coast College’s men’s and women’s cross country
teams fared well at the Irvine Invitational at Irvine Park Saturday,
the men finishing second behind a strong team effort, and the women
tied for second with Mt. San Antonio, with Suzette Dinoso and Natalie
St. Andre going 6-7 in the field of 102.
Coast’s men finished with 86 points, behind Mt. San Antonio’s
leaders, who won with 57.
Joel Guzman was eighth in 5:11.8 on the four-mile course, and
Gilbert Salas was 14th at 5:19.0. Irwin Salas, Matt Pooley and Sam
Ocampo went 23-24-25 with clockings of 5:24.8, 5:25.0 and 5:25.3.
Also contributing were Peter Ramirez, 36th at 5:29.3, and Juan
Altamirano, 39th at 5:31.3.
Fullerton won the women’s division with 36 points, with Coast and
Mt. SAC tied for second with 64 points.
Dinoso and St. Andre went 6:32.1 and 6:32.4 over a 5K course.
Shea Corbin was 10th at 6:44.6, Jane Alder was 24th at 7:00.4,
Claudia Sanchez was 27th at 7:04.6, Jasmine Geider was 32nd at 7:11.0
and Katie Stretz was 44th at 7:24.2.
