Laura Kopel scored three times and Megan Wilson added another goal
as Heidi Neal’s Blue Crush defeated Jim Conner’s team, 4-1, in Girls
under-12 soccer action in AYSO Region 57.
Amanda Johnson assisted on Wilson’s goal as Megan Gaal, Annalise
Moore, Beth Arnesen and Jaclyn Risser played strong defensively. A.J.
Rome scored on a penalty kick for Conner’s team.
In Boys under-12 action:
* Silver Bullets 3, Maroon Mooners 0
The Silver Bullets recorded their third straight shutout as Ori
Tabak, Kumi Chehabi and Jonathan Jaffee all scored one goal each for
the Bullets.
The Bullets received strong play from Tommy Bangert, Jamie
Heinecke, Camden Nicholson, Alex Mainthow, Scott Berkhausen, Joseph
Reed, Anthony Francisco and Kevin Corrigan. Bullets’ goalie Connor
Benvenuti preserved the shutout with several saves.
In Girls under-11 action:
* Corona del Mar Hotspurs 8, Yorba Linda Silver Crush 0
Goals by Sydney Brombat, Katie Deverian, Haley Raguse, Hannah
Stuart and Kellie Feeley sealed the victory. Solid efforts from Bayli
Stefi, Nikki Flinn, Laura Fleming, Isa-Marie Taskinen, Kyla Winkle
and goalkeeper Sarah Folks helped the Hotspurs improve to 3-1.
In Boys under-10 action:
* Vipers 7, Green Gators 1
Joe Ctvrlik and Connor Morrill each scored two goals apiece as the
Vipers beat the Green Gators.
Single goals came from Scott Youngman, Billy MacDonald and Blake
Thomsen as the defense of Ryan Delgado, Saahm Aresh, Spencer Bruno,
Kiefer Cohen and goalkeeping of Justin Ruffalo stymied the Gators.
* Patriots 5, Team USA 4
Donald Dalton scored a hat trick as the Patriots held onto their
lead to defeat Team USA.
Dalton scored two goals and Hector Marino scored another goal for
the Patriots.
Grady Howe added another goal for the Patriots before Team USA
scored two goals to go into the half trailing by two.
Team USA scored their third goal early in the second half, but
Dalton responded with his third goal as Patrick Pearson, Evan Harr,
Adam Bronfin and Maxwell Carpenter helped secure the win for the
Patriots as did Christian Ball, Jeremy Fox and Daniel Hohl, who kept
the ball moving through the midfield.
In Girls under-7 play:
* The Pink Panthers continued their strong offensive play with
several goals.
Katie Curci opened the scoring for the Panthers in the second
period as she dribbled through several defenders before launching a
shot.
Noelle Gooding scored in the third period off a pass from Paige
Larsh as Jenna Rose Alder scored two goals in the fourth period with
help from Alexis Case, who kept the ball in the opponent’s territory.
Marissa Fink, Isabella Hill and Melanie Holmen made timely
defensive plays for the Panthers.
