Beach volleyball hits Corona del Mar

Semi-professional and amateur volleyball players will be on the
beach Saturday setting, jumping and blocking in the AVPNext
Men’s/Women’s 2’s and Co-ed 2’s Beach Volleyball Tournament at Corona
del Mar State Beach off Ocean Boulevard.
Players can compete in four divisions -- “AA,” “A,” “B,” or
“unrated,” as tournament play begins at 10 a.m. Signups start at 9:15
a.m.
Cost is $30 per team, and each player must be a member of
AVPNext. Nonmembers can pay $10 for the annual AVPNext membership
at the tournament.
AVPNext provides semi-professional and amateur volleyball players
with sanctioned tournaments, leagues, clinics, a national ranking
system and a national governing body.
Semi-professional players participating in the “AAA” division will
qualify for Association of Volleyball Professionals events
Directions: South on Marguerite Avenue from Pacific Coast Highway,
turn right on Ocean Boulevard, then turn left down the hill to the
beach. Drivers can either park their car on Ocean Boulevard, or pay
$6 at the beach.
