Crystal Cove created a princess in reader

I felt like a princess while boarding and riding my horse between

south Corona del Mar and Crystal Cove (Sunday Story, “Return to

Crystal Cove,” Sunday).

It was the domain of me and few other lucky kids. I’m so grateful

it will be enjoyed by everyone in the future.

I find it hard to feel sorry for the former residents of the

cottages who have moved on to places like Palos Verdes and Balboa

Island.

Staged human relations strike helps candidate

I attended the Costa Mesa Human Relations Committee in which a

group of people showed up to demand that three members resign (“

Battle lines drawn in cyberspace,” Saturday).

This was a staged event and was brought about by an e-mail that

went out to various and sundry extremists calling on them to show up

to confront “racism and homophobia.”

In fact, what’s really going on is that the November election is

coming up, and Allan Mansoor, who was one of the committee members

who was asked to resign, is a candidate for City Council.

He was the real target of these extremists, who know that his

tough on crime, quality of life and improvement views may carry the

day for him in November.

In other words, this was a preemptive strike by extremists.

Unfortunately for these extremists, they’ve alienated many people

in the city and are bringing many good, decent citizens to Mansoor,

if the comments I’m hearing in the community are any clue.

Church cartoon upsets Costa Mesa resident

I am so offended by the July 7 ‘’cartoon’’ that cartoonist Steve

Bolton put in the Daily Pilot about “here’s the Mormon Church,

here’s the steeple and all the angry people.”

I am so offended by that that now I’m going to call the place

where they send out the papers and if I ever get the Daily Pilot

distributed to my home, I will sue the Pilot. I do not want the Daily

Pilot.

I’m going to stop taking the Los Angeles Times because of this and

I want the company to know that if I ever get this paper delivered to

my home, free or not -- I’m sure that’s the only way the Pilot can

get rid of its newspapers is to give them out free -- I will sue. And

please if the Pilot has any idea, try me.

Old everything seems to be disappearing now

It’s amazing the number of fine old homes, structures and even

trees that are disappearing on the Balboa Peninsula and in Cannery

Village.

Apparently, a good camera or a photographic memory is the order of

the day.

There’s no accounting for good taste however, and it’s obvious

that ‘’out with the old’’ isn’t always the best visual solution.
