Nordstrom is having its half-yearly women’s and kids’ sale with
savings of 20% to 40% throughout the store. Shoes, apparel and
accessories are reduced for women and kids, and there’s a ton of new

Another new Tight Assets store opened on the corner of East 17th
Street and Irvine Boulevard, next to Brueggers Bagels in Costa Mesa.
Tight Assets was temporarily at Fashion Island, and has other locations
in Palm Desert, El Paso and Carlsbad. “We specialize in workout wear,
dance wear and hip street wear,” says owner Heidi Miller. “We also
specialize in awesome customer service and really cool clothes.” Tight
Assets carries workout wear from Danskin, Pezzi, Carushka, Marika,
Everlast, Apple Green, Prairie Cotton, M. Rose and Hank, One Step Ahead
and exclusively ATO from Brazil. Dance wear is from Capezio, Barishnikov

Local photographer Julie Norton, who specializes in black and white
photography, is offering a special. If you call before the end of June to
schedule a sitting before September, the sitting fee will cost $85 and
include one 8-by-10-inch photograph. It’s a $125 value. The pricing
schedule for prints are holiday cards 4-by-6-inch (minimum order of 50,
one image) for $2 each; 5-by-7-inch prints for $40; 8-by-10-inch prints
for $60; 11-by-14-inch prints for $90, and 16-by-20-inch prints for $125.

Nature lovers can go on a two-hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay
with a trained naturalist guide. The tours are offered at 10 a.m. Sundays
