Three robberies in Irvine over the last month appear related to others
that have occurred in Newport-Mesa, officials said Wednesday.
Police officials in the three cities are looking for a robber who has
been armed with a handgun in holdups of card stores, supermarkets, a
hardware store and a drug store.
Police describe the assailant as a white man between 35 and 40, 6 feet
tall, and about 200 pounds, with a stocky build. He often dresses in dark
clothing that consists of a jacket and jeans, Irvine police said. He also
wears a hat or knit cap to cover his hair. He has worn large framed
glasses and a fake mustache or goatee to disguise himself, police said.
Anyone with information should call Det. Jacobson at the Irvine Police
Department at (949) 724-7172.
