We’re walking into summer with tons of art and entertainment to be

had.

ARTWALK

Next Thursday is the coveted Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. It seems like

no matter how many times you’ve done it for how many years it still

proves to be one of the coolest and original experiences anywhere. There

is always a new treasure to be found or a discovery to be enjoyed.

“First Thursday’s Art Walk is launching into the summer season with an

exciting array of openings, artist receptions and music,” said arts

coordinator Sian Poeschl.

New additions this month include the Wynn Henstock Gallery, Vintage

Poster, Tung & Groov and 7 Degrees.

“There are also new exhibits at most of the galleries and free

admission to the museum. This month three shuttle services will run

throughout the evening,” Poeschl said.

She also wants to let everyone know that First Thursday’s is in

desperate need of people who would like to join them as shuttle guides.

NO SQUARE THEATRE

Tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon No Square Theatre is having a rummage

sale at its rehearsal studio at 221 Broadway and is urging folks to stop

by and check out their goods, which they promise includes a different

kind of garage sale flavor with all sorts of cool stuff. Thursday, June 6

from 6 to 9 p.m., they’ll be have an open house and invite everyone to

join them for a delightful evening at their Broadway rehearsal studio,

Square One.

They will also present original paintings and photography by artists

Christian Rassinoux, Danita Crivello, Gretchen Murray, Nicole Reineman

and Leigh Ellen Thompson.

7 Degrees will host 3-D EXHIBIT

7 Degrees in association with the UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of

the Arts had an artist reception Thursday night for Mugen Suzuki’s “3D

STYLE.” The exhibit is based on the Nike commercial “Freestyle, 3D

STYLE.”

“We’re very excited about it. It’s along the lines that 7 Degrees is

all about, using multimedia art and utilizing the digital technology is

extremely exciting,” said Allison Ahlfeldt marketing Director.

Mugen has been working on this piece as a resident student artist at 7

Degrees for the past eight months. “3D STYLE” is an animated short

created using motion capture technology and computer generated images.

“It’s great for students to have a feel of having their first opening

in the real world,” said Ahlfeldt.

Mugen explained that she got the idea for this project because she

really likes basketball and looked at what she could do with that by

integrating motion and movement in a 3-D environment.

THE ART INSTITUTE’S FUND-RAISER

Saturday June 8 from 6-10 p.m will be the 13th annual Collector’s

Choice fund-raiser benefiting the students of the Art Institute of

Southern California. The event will have delicious food and the

opportunity to win original artwork by over 70 international and local

professional artists. The Art Institute of Southern California is at 2222
