Pet of the Week

This 4-year-old orange tabby -- a neutered male -- has been hosed with
water, poked and shooed for climbing on Balboa Island boats and getting
into mischief, said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Community Animal
Network.
“Neighbors had enough, said the rescuer, who has paid boarding for the
cat for a month now without any luck of finding it a home,” Pfaff-Martin
said. “Last week, she called the network, and the cat, Baby, was shown at
Fashion Island for adoption, but the 20 kittens stole the show from the
big cats needing homes.”
The network’s rescue group has no funds available to pay for boarding,
Pfaff-Martin said.
“I have negotiated with the vet boarding to keep the cat for one week
in hopes this public cry is heard, before the animal will go to the
shelter,” she said. “More adult animals die at shelters during kitten and
puppy season than any other. If anyone is going to board a rescue animal,
they should call us immediately before they run out of money or patience
in looking for a home on their own.”
