Prudential, Quiksilver fight to 12-12 tie

There was plenty of offensive fireworks and base stealing during
Prudential’s meeting with Quiksilver in Laguna Beach Little League AAA
Division play, and the two teams fought to a 12-12 tie.
Quiksilver’s offense prowess included a pair of RBI doubles and a
single by Cole Kennedy, two RBI singles by Lee Thomas, one by Will
Marquette who also had an RBI double, Scotty Ferguson had an RBI single,
Robbie McKnight had an RBI double and Richard Mattingly had a strong
defensive game.
For Prudential, Blake Hoffmeiser had two RBI, Alex Iannotti had a pair
of singles and an RBI, Rex Strombotne had a single, Beau Hutson doubled
three times with an RBI and stole home, Sean Sullivan had an RBI double
and a single, Taylor Preston had an RBI, Casey Miller singled twice and
Keanyn Skinfil singled.
In other games:
Laguna Batting Cages 12, First Team Nolan 6
Laguna Batting Cages went through its batting order and scored seven
runs in the third inning to upend First Team Nolan.
Alex Sasaki had an RBI single during the decisive inning, Brett
Linkletter had a single to pace the Laguna Batting Cages’ offense,
Michael Hyden made a running, diving catch in the outfield to stop a
Nolan rally in the second inning, and Zach Riegler, Adam Selevan and
Andrew Levin combined pitching talents to hold powerful First Team Nolan
to six runs.
Clayton Steel smacked a three-run triple, Steve Contursi singled, and
Brent Donenfeld and Alec Jaffe combined on a double play to lead First
Team Nolan.
In AA Division action:
Citizens Bank 6, Toes on the Nose 5
Colin Sweeney capped a late rally and won the game for Citizens Bank
in the bottom of the sixth inning when, with the bases loaded, he
delivered an RBI single with two out and two strikes on him.
The rally began with Evan Steinhoff being hit by a pitch and George
Sadler beating out an infield single, followed by an RBI single by Andrew
Balcof as Citizens Bank knocked off the division’s first place team.
Brandon Conrad hit a two-RBI triple and an RBI single, Jordan Glenn
doubled, Sawyer Pierce had a pair of singles and an RBI, and Paul
Dunne-Dombrink starred in the field to lead Citizens Bank.
Balcof, Pierce, Glenn and Cristian Menes shared pitching duties for
Citizens Bank.
In Junior’s Baseball:
Salernos 16, San Clemente 0
Salernos ran their record to 7-4 by routing the Cardinals at San
Clemente. The power hitting of Ryan Pigden included a 4-4 performance
with a triple and double that produced six RBI. Ryan McCarter also
singled during Salernos’ most productive offensive outing of the season.
