The Laguna Beach Community Clinic has received a $40,000 grant, which
it will use for its breast-screening program, from the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation.
The foundation approved grants totaling $440,000 for 2002 from part of
the proceeds from the 2001 Komen Orange County Race for the Cure.
Funds will provide low-income female patients access to clinical
breast exams, access to patient education, diagnostic or screening
mammography, biopsies and surgical consult services.
Since November 1999, the clinic has provided more than 4,800
comprehensive breast health screening exams to low-income women 40 and
younger from funds awarded by the Komen foundation.
