American Legion wins pair

Team American Legion picked up two Majors Division victories during
the week, beating Sports World, 9-4, and Rotary, 5-4, in Laguna Beach
Little League action.
American Legion 9, Sports World 4
In the first meeting of the season between the teams, American Legion
scored the game’s final five runs and broke a 4-4 tie through three
innings of play.
Timely hits in the final three innings by Noah Barker, Will Burk, Max
Parmentier, Brian Barwick and Kyle Snyder led American Legion to victory.
Burk had a double among two hits and finished with two RBI, and Snyder
also finished with two hits and had two RBI.
Burk also got the win and was aided by the strong defensive play of
Barker, Barwick and Barker.
American Legion 5, Rotary 4
In a close game to the end, Julian Deline struck out the final batter
to secure the win for American Legion.
American Legion scored three runs in its first at-bat, led by Michael
Porter, who doubled and scored on a passed ball, and Christian Kessler,
who had an RBI double.
Jordan O’Brien singled and scored on a walk in the third inning,
Porter’s single scored Andrew Paddon in the fourth inning, to complete
the scoring for American Legion.
Chris Smith had an RBI single in the first inning, Nick Witte walked
twice, scored one run and picked up an RBI double in the fifth inning,
and Austin Hyden walked and scored on passed ball in the sixth inning, to
lead Rotary.
