WEATHER FORECAST
Where the heck did that rain come from Wednesday? Wow. That was out of
the blue.
Here’s the deal today. Early morning fog and low clouds, with highs in
the mid-60s in Newport-Mesa. This evening, however, there’s a chance of
thunderstorms and some rain. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will
happen, but you probably shouldn’t be caught outside sans umbrella
nonetheless. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-50s.
On Friday, there’s another chance of early showers. By afternoon,
expect some mostly cloudy conditions.

BOATING FORECAST
Expect patchy fog early and some drizzle. The southwesterly winds will
blow 10 to 15 knots in the inner waters this afternoon, with 2-foot waves
and a mixed south and west swell of 2 to 4 feet. Later, the swell will
build to 3 to 5 feet.
Out farther, the northwesterly winds will blow 15 knots, with 2-foot
waves and a mixed south and northwest swell of 4 to 6 feet. Later, the
winds will increase to 15 to 20 knots, with 3-foot waves and a northwest
swell of 5 to 7 feet. Fog will return late.
SURF
Does it really matter? After all, it rained Wednesday and it may rain
again today. But, if you’re into ignoring the Orange County Health Care
Agency’s warnings of bacteria in the water, then you can look forward to
some knee-highs today. Waves will be a bit higher come Friday.
