Boys swim: Eagles defeat Mustangs, 95-67

COSTA MESA - Junior Frank Gamboa of Estancia High swam
personal-best times in three events Wednesday as the Eagles’ boys swim
team defeated host Costa Mesa, 95-67, in the final Pacific Coast League
dual meet for both schools.
Gamboa won the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.96) and 100 free (55.61), both
personal records, and opened the Eagles’ winning 200 medley relay
(1:55.80) with a backstroke PR and anchored the team’s winning 200 free
relay (1:47.01).
Other individual winners for Estancia included Jess Hellmich in the
200 IM (PR 2:22.94) and David Silva in the 50 free (26.22).
Mesa’s Anthony Adamowicz swam a PR in winning the 500 free (5:52),
while teammate Evan Spencer won the 100 butterfly (PR 1:02.6).
Estancia (5-4, 1-4 in the PCL) and Costa Mesa (2-12, 0-5) will compete
in the Golden West League beginning next fall.
