NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High baseball team fell behind,
7-0, then nearly rallied all the way back in an 8-7 Sea View League loss
against visiting Woodbridge Wednesday.
Cameron Pemstein allowed just one run and four hits in the final six
innings of his varsity starting pitching debut, and also went 3 for 3
with two RBIs and a double for the Sailors (4-16, 0-12 in league).
The Sailors cut into the lead with a four-run fourth, then rallied for
three runs in the seventh, after Woodbridge widened the lead to 8-4.
Adam Cherry’s pinch double drove in two and he scored on Pemstein’s
single, before the Warriors recorded the final out.
Newport Coach Joel Desguin also credited first baseman Shane Glenn
with two fine defensive plays in the Tars’ errorless effort.
