CdM wins, again

NEWPORT BEACH - Corona del Mar High’s boys golf team tuned up for
today’s big Pacific Coast League match with University with by completing
an 18-hole nonleague duel with Irvine at Newport Beach Country Club
Wednesday, with the nine holes at Newport Beach culminating in a 387-440
victory to give CdM a 12-2 mark.
Corona’s Alex Chikovani and Ryan Lynch shared medalist honors
Wednesday with 2-over 37s, followed by Brad Chamberlin and Nick Sherman
(both at 40) and Tim Frohling (42).
Over 18 holes, Chamberlin was the medalist with a 75, and the
following is what sets the Sea Kings apart from most: Chikovani and the
combination of Colby Hackett and Lynch were at 76, Sherman is at 77 and
Frohling is at 83.
Mike Starkweather’s Sea Kings (7-0 in the PCL) can clinch a share of
the league crown with a win today against a foe they defeated by six
strokes on the latter’s course.
