BBC cancels coming to the Center in 2003

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County recently announced that the
BBC (British Broadcasting Co.) Symphony Orchestra has canceled its U.S.
tour, which was scheduled for March 2003.
Initial plans had included two concerts at the Orange County
Performing Arts Center conducted by Leonard Slatkin.
However, next season’s Philharmonic Society lineup will include two
additional concerts at the Irvine Barclay Theatre -- one by pianist
Zoltan Kocsis with the Hungarian National Philharmonic in January and a
performance by Il Giardino Armonico in May 2003.

The Fishmans to be honored at dance
Hannareta and Gordon Fishman will be honored at the University
Synagogue Spring Gala Dinner Dance at 5:30 p.m. Saturday for being
generous contributors and leaders for the Jewish community.
Seven years ago, Hannareta Fishman founded the idea of an Orange
County Chanukah Concert, which has been an annual event at the Orange
County Performing Arts Center since.
Gordon Fishman has served on boards for the Jewish Federation, the
Bureau of Jewish Education, the Heritage Point Home for the Aged and
other groups.

McGovern’s Center dates change to April 2003
The Orange County Performing Arts Center recently announced that the
dates for Maureen McGovern’s performances have been changed from Dec.
10-14 to April 15-19, 2003.
McGovern will perform at the Center as part of the Cabaret Series.
