A Huntington Beach woman was killed when the Mercedes she was driving
collided with a cement truck in Fountain Valley.
Kyoko Wagner, 60, was driving a Mercedes sport utility vehicle through
the intersection of Magnolia Street and Talbert Avenue Thursday when she
collided with a cement truck, said deputy coroner Cullen Ellingburgh.
Preliminary investigations indicate the cement truck was traveling
westbound on Talbert Avenue while the Mercedes was traveling southbound
on Magnolia Street at 1:40 p.m. last Thursday when the two cars collided
in the intersection of the two streets, said Sgt. Kevin Thomas of the
Fountain Valley Police Department.
When officers arrived they found Wagner trapped inside of the
Mercedes, which was pinned under the cement truck, Thomas said. Fountain
Valley and Huntington Beach Fire units responded and pulled Wagner from
the wreckage, but they were too late. She was pronounced dead upon her
arrival to Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley.
The driver of the cement mixer was unharmed.
Witnesses at the scene told officers the Mercedes may have ran a red
light, Thomas said.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
