College softball: Vanguard sweeps Mustangs

SANTA CLARITA - The Vanguard University softball team received
commanding pitching performances from Gina Liebengood and Marciea Ball,
earning two victories in a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader
over host The Master’s College Tuesday.
Liebengood pitched a three-hit, six-strikeout, no-walk gem to lead the
Lions, ranked No. 20 in the NAIA, to a 8-0 win in six innings. She also
finished with a double, a run scored and one RBI.
Ball allowed just one hit in seven innings, guiding Vanguard (28-19-1,
11-7 in the GSAC) to a 6-2 victory in the nightcap. She struck out three
and walked two.
The Lions outhit the Mustangs, 12-1, as Jill Jessen, Celina Camarillo
(two RBIs), Sarah Ashley and Holly Martinez collected two hits each.
The Mustangs dropped to 22-20-1, 6-12.
