The most difficult part about being a photographer is choosing the

right photo. Especially in situations that involve news coverage.

With two photographers on the scene of Wednesday’s rollover accident

on the Corona del Mar Freeway, there were tons of of outtakes to look

through. What angle, which moment and what frame would best document the

incident.

Questions like these are the foundation for editing any assignment.

The photo staff sorted through the takes, expressing our individual

opinions. Then with a near-tie vote, we agreed on one photo to tell the

story -- a shot of emergency workers trying to free James Gianulas from

his Porsche.

In times like these you can really appreciate the individuality and

unique vision of the talented photographers that surround you.
