COSTA MESA - The Estancia High boys basketball team was outscored,
51-22, in the second half and lost, 80-50, to Pacific Coast League
visitor University Thursday to end the regular season.
Estancia (13-13, 4-6 in league) finished fourth in the PCL and will
await with the hopes of receiving an at-large bid for the CIF Division
III-A playoffs as pairings will be announced Sunday.
“We have more than 11 wins,” Estancia Coach Chris Sorce said. “(But),
I’m never sure of anything except for death and taxes.”
The Eagles were led by junior center Joey Lindquist, who scored a
game-high 21 points, while junior Zack Novak came off the bench to add
12.
“(Uni) came out and had a really good third quarter,” Sorce said.
“They had several runs in the third quarter and we couldn’t answer those
runs.”
The Trojans improved to 17-9, 7-3 and finished second in PCL.
