Measure W debate scheduled

The Orange County Coast Assn. will sponsor a debate on Measure W, the
Great Park initiative, at its February meeting.
Irvine Mayor Larry Agran, one of the key architects of the Great Park
concept, is set to debate former Supervisor Bruce Nestande, an outspoken
critic of the initiative.
Measure W would rezone the closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station to
allow the park to be built. It would invalidate 1994’s Measure A, which
opened the door for a commercial airport at the base.
The group will host the debate at a Feb. 20 luncheon.
Both men will be given 10 minutes for opening statements, followed by
15 minutes of questions from the audience and three minutes for closing
remarks.
The debate is scheduled to be held at the Newport Dunes Waterfront
Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive.
Reservations are required for attendance. They must be made by Feb.
18. Information and reservations: (949) 660-8665.
