NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High girls basketball team
suffered a 45-33 Sea View League loss to visiting Laguna Hills Thursday.
Faced with a 26-16 halftime deficit, the Sailors (4-19, 1-6 in league)
responded with a solid effort in the second half, Newport Coach Jen
Thompson said. Athena Vasquez led the Tars with 13 points on 6 of 10
shooting (60%), while Evita Castillo grabbed 11 rebounds.
“We didn’t shoot very well from the free-throw line (2 for 9),”
