WEATHER FORECAST
The weather’s going to be different this year. No, not really. In
fact, it’ll probably hold in store much of the same as experienced last
year.
Today, expect early morning fog but mostly dry conditions under mostly
cloudy skies. There may be a few sprinkles early, but they certainly
won’t rain on anyone’s parade.
Highs in Newport-Mesa will top off at about 60 today, and the lows
will dip to the low 50s. Have a happy new year, and don’t worry about the
wetter conditions Wednesday will unveil.

BOATING FORECAST
The southeasterly winds will blow a light 10 knots in the inner waters
today. The waves will only be about a foot, and the west swell will be
about 4 feet.
Out farther, expect much of the same, though the northwest swell will
build to about 6 feet. By Wednesday morning, it’ll increase to 10 feet.
SURF
It’s not the best way to kick off a new year on the ocean’s surface
today. After all, the waves are in the knee- to waist-high range and the
past weekend’s rains don’t exactly leave surfers with great tastes in
their mouths. In other words, stay dry.
Wednesday will see another northwest swell, but it probably won’t be a
great day to hit the waves on account of more rain.
