Gov. Gray Davis reappointed Newport Beach resident F.M. “Fred” Ameri

to the California Regional Water Quality Control Board Santa Ana Region

for his second term. Ameri is a senior vice president at RBF Consulting,

which provides design, construction and planning services for the

building industry. Ameri’s responsibilities include issuing waste

discharge requirements, enforcement actions against violators and

monitoring water quality. The State Water Resources Control Board and

regional boards were created in 1967 to ensure the highest reasonable

water-quality standards in the state, while allowing the waters to

receive the optimum level of beneficial uses. Ameri was appointed to the

Orange County Board of Supervisors Development Processing Review

Committee in 1992, where he served as chairman and continues to serve as

a member. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the World

Affairs Council, Orange County Chapter. . . . The Boys & Girls Club of

Santa Ana has announced that Judy Ware, president of Ware Disposal Co.

Inc. is the newest member of the Boys & Girls Club’s board of directors.

The Newport Coast resident has been involved in various community

organizations since 1968, when she and husband Ben started operations to

provide Orange County with waste and recycling systems. The Boys & Girls

Club of Santa Ana serves 5,000 youth annually. Waste Disposal has been a

supporter of the Boys & Girls Club for the past two years as the title

sponsor of the club’s annual “Castle of Dreams” auction fund-raiser. . .

. Marine Corps Pvt. Nicholas B. Zeramby, son of Sherry A. Zeramby of

Costa Mesa and Scott A. Zeramby of Albion, completed basic training at

Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Zeramby completed 12 weeks of

training designed to challenge new recruits physically and mentally. He

spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments that included

first aid, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and

weapons training. Zeramby and fellow recruits ended the training phase

with the Crucible, a 54-hour team effort and problem-solving project.
