Fernando Maldonado, Joey Lindquist and Matt Cachola led the way
with double-figures scoring and all-round play for Estancia High’s
Eagles, who were 82-59 winners over the host La Quinta Aztecs Saturday in
a consolation game of the La Quinta Boys Basketball Tournament.
Maldonado scored 18 points, including two three-pointers, Lindquist
had 17 points and pulled down 10 boards, and Cachola, who came in near
the end of the first quarter, had 16 points and six assists.
The win improved Estancia’s record to 2-3 as the Eagles prepare for
next week’s invasion of nonleague foes Irvine on Wednesday and these same
Aztecs (1-4) on Thursday.
