A 31-year-old Anaheim woman died Saturday morning after she lost
control of her car and hit a concrete pillar at the Bristol Street
overpass on the Corona del Mar Freeway, officials said.
Susan McCauley was driving at about 12:51 a.m. when she veered off the
freeway in her car, said California Highway Patrol Officer Joann O’Hair.
“We don’t know how it happened or how fast she was going at the time,”
she said. “There were no witnesses.”
McCauley, who sustained severe head and internal injuries, was
transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where she was
pronounced dead at 5:17 a.m., according to the Orange County Coroner.
More autopsy results are pending.
McCauley was the sole occupant of her car and no other vehicles were
involved in the crash, O’Hair said.
