Celebrating the arts

It may be the inaugural season of the newly renamed Claire Trevor
School of the Arts at UC Irvine, but it’s the school’s fifth annual
ArtsWeek.
The week, which highlights the campus’ arts programs, will kick off
tonight with a benefit performance of “Victor/Victoria” at the Irvine
Barclay Theatre. The musical is a joint venture between the school’s
dance, drama and music departments.
“This is the week when we invite the community on campus to see our
productions,” said Lori Brandt, UCI assistant director of public
information.
Other events include a gallery night from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday to
exhibit “The Predator” by Fabian Marcaccio and Greg Lynn, and “Frames” by
Grahame Weinbren. There will also be performances of “New Slate,” dance
works by graduate students, at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2 and 8
p.m. Nov. 17.
