TODAY
Laugh and feed the soul. Chef Leon Matthews will be featured during a
night of dinner and comedy at the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen, 720 W. 19th
St., Costa Mesa. Stand-up comedians will perform. The early show,
including dinner, will start at 5 p.m. The late show will start at 8 p.m.
$50 in advance, $65 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the soup kitchen.

SUNDAY
Listen to the sounds of old. The Harmonia Baroque Players will present
the first of a concert series titled “Musica Obscura” at 4 p.m. at
Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, 798 Dover Drive, Newport Beach. The

MONDAY
Look at lovely landscapes. An exhibit of scenic landscapes and
seascapes by plein-air painter Brian Murphy will be on display through
Nov. 30 at the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., Newport
Beach. A reception for Murphy will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at

TUESDAY
Listen to the spoken word. Lee Mallory and the Gypsy Den will present
a night of poetry and music, including an appearance by poet Leigh White
(“Night & Day”) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at 2930 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. Free.

WEDNESDAY
Watch a world premiere. Lucinda Coxon’s “Nostalgia” will receive its
world premiere through Dec. 2 at South Coast Repertory’s Second Stage,
655 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. Performances will be held at 7:45 p.m.
Tuesdays through Sundays, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
