Women’s sailing: UCI wins fall championship

The UC Irvine women’s sailing team won the Pacific Coast
Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association championship at Newport Harbor
Oct. 27-28.
The Anteaters finished the 24-race competition over Divisions A and B
with a total of 74 points, followed by University of Hawaii (81) and
Stanford (82).
The UCI team consisted of Emily Robb and Trish Perry in Division A and
Lauren Maxam and Emily Hemberger in Division B. Both teams finished
second in their divisions.
The races were completed over two days in light south-west winds. UC
Irvine hosted teams from Stanford, University of Hawaii, Cal, UC Santa
Barbara and UC Santa Cruz.
Single and double windward leeward courses were sailed off the western
tip of Lido Isle.
