The arraignment for a 53-year-old Newport-Mesa Unified School District
board member stemming from a DUI arrest was postponed Monday to Nov. 28.
Two misdemeanor charges were filed against Jim Ferryman on Oct. 10 --
one count of drunk driving and another that states he had a blood alcohol
level that exceeded the legal limit of 0.08.
Officials said a blood test performed by the Orange County crime lab
showed Ferryman had a blood alcohol level of 0.19 -- more than twice the
legal limit -- at the time of his arrest.
Ferryman was arrested Sept. 27 on suspicion of driving under the
influence after he was involved in a collision on Newport Boulevard in
Costa Mesa.
He and another driver collided as they were heading northbound and
trying to merge into a single lane because of construction, Costa Mesa
police officials said.
