SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - Newport Harbor High senior Margie Anderson
picked an opportune time for her first sub-100 round of the girls golf
season, shooting 25-over-par 96 Monday to claim the eighth of 12 spots in
today’s second round at the Sea View League Finals at San Juan Hills
Country Club.
“I believe that’s the first time she has broken 100,” said Newport
Harbor Coach Marianne Towersey.
The second round tees off today at 10:30 a.m. at the same venue, from
where the top five individuals will advance to the CIF Southern Section
individual championships, Nov. 15 at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert
Hot Springs.
The top score posted Monday was 87, according to Towersey, who said
Nepwort’s Shelby Crisp (103) missed the final qualifying berth by four
strokes.
The Sailors concluded their team season Monday.
