that was walking out of a Huntington Beach restaurant Oct. 16.
A husband and wife, both 35-year-old Irvine residents, were walking to
their car in the parking lot of the Macaroni Grill at 7901 Edinger Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 16 when a man confronted them with a chromed
revolver.

jewelry, which they did, said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Bruce Kelly.

The man then allegedly approached another customer leaving the
restaurant and waved his gun, instructing the customer to get back
inside, which they did. He then ran northbound through the parking lot
and disappeared behind Circuit City.No vehicle was seen or heard and
there were no injuries.
The suspect is described as a male in his late 20s with a short afro
haircut, weighing 160 to 170 pounds and wearing tan pants.

Pedestrian hit by car in critical condition
A Huntington Beach man is in critical but in stable condition at UCI
Medical Center after he was hit by a car while crossing the street
Saturday.
Mark L. Leonhardt, 45, suffered major head trauma and injuries to the
upper torso when he was struck by a car on Beach Boulevard just before 8
p.m. Saturday.
He was crossing the road on foot just north of Chrysler Avenue, when
he was hit by a Toyota Corolla heading southbound by 33-year-old
Huntington Beach resident Vernon P. Burton.
“[Burton] attempted to avoid him, but he struck [Leonhardt] with the
right front of his vehicle,” said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ron
Burgess. “He was driving at the posted speed limit.”
The speed limit in that area of Beach Boulevard is 45 mph.
Police came upon the scene and administered first until paramedics
from the Huntington Beach Fire Department arrived. Paramedics treated him
and then quickly transported him to the hospital.
The southbound lanes of Beach Boulevard were closed to traffic for an
hour and a half following the accident.
No arrests were made and Burton showed no traces of alcohol at the
scene. The investigation is continuing.
