Ayso Region 57: Rockets battle Bulldogs

The Rockets blasted off against the Bulldogs in an AYSO Region 57

boys-under 9 soccer game on Saturday.

Andrew McCormack scored two goals and Erik Ctvrtlik scored one. Jack

McBean and Joe Ctvrtlik set up a number of scoring chances. Hunter

Heckendorn, Kevin Hoffman, Josh Schwartz and Ben Paul contributed on

defense.

In boys under-14 action:

* Flaming Ice 3, Chargers (Region 97) 1 - Max Page scored two goals

and Taylor Martini scored one to lead the Flaming Ice (3-3). Ryan

Hultman, Geoffrey Grant and Vlad Vakulenko kept strong pressure on the

previously undefeated Chargers. The Ice’s defense was anchored by Ford

Noe in net. Brian Thomas, John Hess, Ben Anshutz, George Logan, Clay

Russell and Jake Campbell dominated the defense.

In boys under-10 action:

* Mako Sharks 5, Killer Bees 0 - Chris Freeman scored three goals and

Ryan Peyton scored two to help the Mako Sharks remained undefeated.

Midfielders Sebastien Welch and Nick Taormina controlled the playing

field. The Sharks also received support from David Fenner, Saahm Aresh,

Taylor Battram, Ian Massoth, Chandler Mitchell, Cameron Koppel and

Braydon Blackford.

In boys under-8 action:

* The Green Machine took on the Teal Tornados. Cort Hastings had two

goals and Brent Lawson had one. Blake Grable, C.J. Nugent, Pete Rigas and

Garrett Brewer were solid on defense. Brian Mull and Davis Case also

played well.

In boys under-7 action:

* Sharks 0, Green Dragons 0 - James Christian barely missed scoring in

the second half for the Sharks. Lance Seger, Logan Piper, Jack McInally,

Max Mulcahy, Austin Swenson and Andy Lewis also contributed to the

Sharks’ offensive attack.
