Jr. All-American Football: Junior Pee Wee Seahawks blank Corona

The Junior Pee Wee Seahawks beat Corona, 13-0, to earn their first
win of the season in a Newport-Mesa Junior All-American football game at
Bonita Creek Park Saturday.
Jordan Lusk threw touchdown passes to Andrew McDonald and Austin
Raiger to lead the Seahawks’ offense. Both touchdowns were set up by the
key running plays of Travis Sorenson and Bucko Theriot.
Robert Connealy, Nick Tripi, Hunter Alder, Andrew Fulcher, Scott
Chene, Kevin Rask and Patrick Marin-finn played well on the offensive
line.
The defense was anchored by Michael Ensign, Robert Newman, Cole
Sheppard, Woody Yokoyama, Austin Ford, Kyle Gladding, Adrian Luchs, Nick
Svendsen and Kyle Johnson.
* Pee Wee Seahawks 20, Compton Titans 0 - After a scoreless first
half, quarterback Taylor Sepulveda connected with Erik Rask on a 5-yard
touchdown pass to put the Seahawks on the board in the third quarter.
Later in the third, Carlo Valdes sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown
after William O’Brien made a key block.
The Seahawks’ offensive surge continued in the fourth quarter.
Sepulveda again connected with Rask on a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Charles Vickery, Jon Tripi, Richie Sorenson, P.J. Simpson, Travis
Prickett, Robbie Lusk, Brian Lawler, Brett Hanrahan, Steve Deverian and
Will Brown were solid on defense. Tommy Folks also contributed on defense
with an interception in the third quarter.
The offense consistently moved the ball behind the blocking of Bryce
Jardine, Corbin McNutt, Justin Elbourn, Jerry Whitney, Frankie Russo,
Nick Reese, James McKennon, Keifer Fairbanks, Michael Jugan, Jake
Lemmerman and Colin Wigely.
In other NMJAAF action:
* Clinic Seahawks 39, Corona Panthers 6 - Andy Hayes scored two
touchdowns and Parker Norton, Troy Bundy, Ronnie Dunmore and Kyle Chene
each scored one to lead the Seahawks.
J.D. Abbott made a key reception on a pass by Bundy to set up a
second-half touchdown run by Hayes. Nick Taormina and Christian Anderson
also piled up rushing yardage for the Seahawks.
Chasen Watson, Andrew Hicks, Jeremy Dunjak, Bret Klein, Steven Clapp,
Ronnie Dunmore, Grant Johnson, Lee Cowan and Ryan Hatcher made strong
blocks.
Taormina kicked the first extra point in team history after a
touchdown run.
The defense was led by Logan Mowery, Sebastian Welch and Chris Kraft.
The Seahawks next play the Orange Chiefs East on the road.
* Junior Midget Seahawks 23, Orange Chiefs West 6 - The Seahawks came
on strong early in the game to beat the defending Jr. Midget Superbowl
champions. Ryan Lance connected with Mike Orosco on a 22-yard touchdown
pass in the first quarter and John Angelo converted the successful extra
point.
The Chiefs answered with a 65-yard scoring drive to trail, 7-6.
The Seahawks did not remain silent. Lance scored on a quarterback
sneak with 23 seconds left in the second quarter and Matt Hauser found
Matt Burgner to give the Seahawks a 15-6 halftime lead.
Lance made a 12-yard touchdown pass to Matt Reiger with 5:53 remaining
in the game to seal the victory. Lance found Burgner on the successful
two-point conversion to end the scoring.
Bret Crowley had eight tackles and Ricky Sepulvada had seven for the
Seahawks (5-1), which face the South Bay Packers next at Bonita Creek
Park.
