Girls tennis: Newport takes out Irvine

IRVINE - The Newport Harbor High girls tennis team remained

undefeated in the Sea View League with a 14-4 victory at Irvine Thursday.

Senior Megan Hawkins won both of her singles sets, while junior Krista

McIntosh and sophomore Bonnie Adams swept their three sets.

The Khoury sisters, Carmen and Diana, swept in doubles play, as did

the Newport tandem of Erika Buder and Vanessa Dunlap. Irvine dropped to

2-13, 0-6 in league.

The Sailors (10-2, 6-0) will host Laguna Hills Tuesday and will then

host Back Bay rival Corona del Mar Wednesday. Both matches start at 3:15

p.m.

(substitute) Nelson (NH) lost to LeBang, 2-6; McIntosh (NH) won, 6-1,

6-2, 6-0; Adams (NH) won, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles - C. Khoury-D. Khoury (NH) def. Jung-Liaw, 6-0, def.

Shiau-Chen, 6-1, def. Liang-Lai, 6-0; Buder-Dunlap (NH) won, 7-6 (8-6),

6-2, 6-2; Olson-Early (NH) lost, 2-6, 3-6, 4-6.
