Ayso Region 120: Rigo Miranda scores two goals in Thunderhawks’ win

The Thunderhawks, an Ayso Region 120 Costa Mesa APP team, defeated
Huntington Beach, 3-1, in a boys under-13 soccer game Saturday.
Rigo Miranda scored two goals and Austin Evett had one on a breakaway
to lead the Costa Mesa offense. The defense was anchored by goalkeeper
Thomas Kosnosky.
Also contributing on defense were Ben Abbott, Alberto Nava, Caleb
Burgess, Luis Cozza, William Briseno and Kenneth Zich.
In their previous game on Oct. 6, the Thunderhawks defeated Rancho
Santa Margarita, 2-1. Hayden Hiatt and Miranda scored goals for Costa
Mesa. Benny Edles, Starnes Arnold, Matt Grella and Adam Seagondollar
played well in midfield.
In girls under-12 action:
* Bad Hair Day 3, Hot Tamales 2 - Bridget Gleason scored in the final
minutes to lift Bad Hair Day. The Hot Tamales jumped to an early lead
with two goals from Tamisha Williams. Bad Hair Day answered with goals
from Taylor West and Gleason to tie the score, 2-2. Strong play from
Lauren Kipp, Paige Wallace, Olivia Drummond and Cori Patelski kept Bad
Hair Day in the game.
In boys under-10 action:
* Team U.S.A 4, Team Quicksilver 3 - Tyler Schiltz and Andrew Roth
scored goals for Team Quicksilver.
* Comets 4, Team Quicksilver 3 - Goalscorers Rigoberto Perez, Devin
Guthrie and Johathan Miranda contributed to Team Quicksilver’s effort.
* Wolverins 5, Torpedoes 0 - Evan Edison, Robert Ruttan (two goals)
and David Nava scored for the Wolverines. Kevin Kiser, Marc Jones and
Tyler Suttan made key passes. Garret Frazier led the Torpedoes against
Marc DeFrenza at center fullback, and Eduardo and Jose Espinoza on
defense, but the Torpedoes were unable to penetrate the zone to take a
shot on goal.
* Wolverines 1, United 1 - Jones, Ruttan, DeFrenza and Edwin Gonzales
turned away the United attacks. Edison, Eduardo Espinoza, Jose Espinosa,
Nava, Ryan Barnett, Suttan, Kiser and Ricky Williams led the Wolverines
on offense.
In girls under-10 action:
* Crushers 5, Wild Coyotes 1 - Jessica Naja, Carlie Rinehart, Natalie
Seckel and Teeny Cathey (two goals) scored for the Crushers.
* Crushers 3, Coral Cobras 0 - Cathey scored two goals and Erin Rodman
scored one. Nicole Marlborough, Morgan Pautsch, Shaylen McNulty and Naja
moved the ball well in midfield. Vanessa Green, Rebecca MacLean, Seckel,
McKayla Sullivan and Rinehart contributed on defense.
