Girls tennis: CdM knocks off Mater Dei, 15-3

FOUNTAIN VALLEY - Junior Taylynn Snyder and senior Leslie Damion of
Corona del Mar High swept at No. 1 doubles and improved to 23-1 as a
tandem Wednesday as the Sea Kings defeated host Mater Dei, 15-3, in a
nonleague girls tennis match at Los Caballeros Racquet Club.
CdM (13-0), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV and No. 2
in Southern California behind Peninsula, won eight of nine doubles sets
as Katie Tenerelli and Juliette Mutzke also swept for the Sea Kings at
No. 3 doubles. Mater Dei fell to 9-3.
Junior sensation Anne Yelsey swept at No. 1 singles for CdM, dropping
only one game. The Sea Kings host University today at 3:15 p.m. to begin the second round of Pacific Coast League action.

Singles - Yelsey (CdM) def. Knutson, 6-0, def. Tran, 6-1, def.
Litrich, 6-0; Holland (CdM) won 6-0, 6-1, 6-0; Minna (CdM) lost 1-6, 0-6,
won 6-1.
Doubles - Snyder-Damion (CdM) def. Boyd-Velasco, 6-0, def. Van
Oppen-Devaney, 6-0, def. Guzman-Van Train, 6-2; Rubenstein-Bryan (CdM)
lost 3-6, won 6-1, 6-1; Tenerelli-Mutzke (CdM) won 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.
