o7 In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the East
Coast, organizations and city-funded departments in Newport-Mesa are
raising funding. This list, which will run occasionally, includes some of
those.f7
* On Oct. 22, Hair West the Salon will conduct a cut-a-thon from 8
a.m. to 5 p.m. Professional stylists will cut and style hair with 100% of
the proceeds going to the New York Police and Firefighters Widows and
Children Benefit fund. The salon is at 2817 Villa Way, Newport Beach.

* Penny drives are being held at Kaiser and Adams elementary schools.

* Anyone interested in sending money to victims of the attacks in New
York may contribute to a box placed by Costa Mesa city employees --
police, fire and the Pavilion Assn. -- on the front desk of the city’s
Police Department. You may also mail your contributions to the city of
Costa Mesa, P.O. Box 1200, Costa Mesa, CA 92628. (714) 754-5281.
* The Lido Marina Village Street Party that will be held from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Sunday will donate proceeds to the New York Fire Department.
The free festivities, at 3400 Via Oporto, Newport Beach, will include the
Gregg Topper Band, local musicians, arts and crafts, popcorn and
balloons, free gondola rides, sidewalk sales, raffles and Taste of Lido
Marina Village restaurants.
