Avalanche shuts down Hawks, 8-0

Damian Raburn came up with 30 saves Monday and his defensive cohorts
kept the Hawks out of the net as the Avalanche scored a 8-0 shutout
victory in Smythe division play.
Five players got into the scoring act, with Kyle Evans leading the way
with three goals.
Alex Borcich scored twice and added an assist, Raymond Thompson scored
once and had a pair of assists and Daniel Reed and Jeffrey Sabraw each
scored once.
Andrew Wade had two assists.
In other games:
Spitfires 12, Vipers 7
The Spitfires broke open a tight game by outscoring the Vipers, 6-2,
in the final period.
Tyler Bales led the way for the Spitfires with three goals, Eric Pace
and Kevin Lassen each scored twice, and Ryan Blake, Seth Stout, Richard
Killian and Bronson Steiner all scored once. Jonathan Floren led the
charge with four assists, Steiner had two and Bales, Lassen and Dylan
Verrastro each had one assist.
Michael Mowrey recorded 14 saves.
For the Vipers, Austin Shannon, Nathan Bergeron and Tyler Olsen each
scored twice, Nelson Kays scored once, and Kays, Olsen, Shannon, Jim
Martin and Jeff Fuzzard each had an assist.
Roller Rebels 12, Top Guns 2
The Roller Rebels led, 9-2, through the first two periods and never
were threatened.
The scoring onslaught featured four goals and three assists by Hunter
Herrick, four goals and an assist by Max DeVries, two goals and two
assists by Hunter Golden, two goals and an assist by Tyler Bertrand and
an assist by Steven Farrell.
Jake Marsey had 21 saves.
James Williams scored both goals for the Top Guns and Austin Harms
recorded 23 saves.
Rookies 9, Ice Dogs 7
In a close match to the final horn, William DeWitt scored five goals
-- including his team’s final four, David Marabella scored twice and had
an assist, Ben Piontkowski scored once with an assist, Samantha Aker
scored once and D.J. Mihalik had 14 saves for the Rookies.
Ross Harper scored the first three goals for the Ice Dogs, Andrew
Powers scored twice, Darla Roseberry and Ryan Kalama scored once and Sean
Easton had 13 saves.
Jets 6, Rangers 2
Timothy Hunt scored two goals and Darrell McDonald, Jacob Schnautz,
Rachel Costa and Kristen Fronk all scored as the Jets rode a 3-0 first
period lead to victory. McDonald and Garrett Haar each added an assist,
and Ben Hynes had 13 saves.
David Daley had an assist and Tyler Geery stopped 14 shots on goal for
the Rangers.
