Girls volleyball: Bailey resigns at Mesa

COSTA MESA - Darlene Bailey, who coached the Costa Mesa High girls
volleyball team to a 7-7 record last fall, said Wednesday she has
resigned to devote time to other interests.
Bailey, who coached the women’s program at Boise State for 20 seasons
before coming to Costa Mesa, will continue teaching in the social studies
department at the school.
While she enjoyed working with athletes at Mesa, for which she was
also a part-time assistant with the boys program, she will now devote
more time to her family, as well as a book project.
“My daughter is an athlete and she’s going to be competing and I want
to be there for her,” said Bailey, who does not anticipate coaching in
the future.
Costa Mesa High Boys Athletic Director Kirk Bauermeister said the
school is looking for qualified applicants to replace Bailey. Those
interested should call Bauermeister at (714) 424-8763.
