Tight Assets opened last week at Fashion Island. It carries the best
selection anywhere for workout, dance and hip street wear. “It’s very
boutiquee,” says the owner, Heidi Miller. “There are things here you
won’t find anywhere else. It carries everything you need to wear to and
from the gym; all kinds of shoes; tap and ballet; tutus, tights and
street wear.” Name brands available are Danskin, Capezio, Baryshnikov,
Carushka, M. Rose, Pezzi, Papillon, Only and Dance Shoes. Tight Assets
was at Crystal Court for the last eight years, and there’s a Palm Desert
location. Tight Assets is Heidi Miller’s second business venture, her
first being Heidi’s Frozen Yogurt, which comprised 120 chains of yogurt

If you want to go through rolling blackouts “in style,” Timarie Doty,
the owner of Acanthus Gallery, recommends stocking up on lighting at its
sale. The “blackout sale” is on all candleholders, hurricanes and lamps
up to 50% off. Acanthus Gallery has an enormous selection of marble,
bronze and walnut candleholders and hurricanes. “There are lamps to die
for with special attention to detail,” says Doty. “Wonderful shades,
finials and finishes not found anywhere else. There are also many, many
wonderful items to select from, including antique prints (1613-1850);
decorative boxes; bejeweled picture frames; furniture, including small

Everyone’s favorite upscale women’s clothing store A’Maree’s is closed
Friday to prepare for its annual spring-summer sale, which starts
Saturday. There are definitely best buys to be found at this annual sale.
A’Maree’s carries popular designer clothing, accessories, beautiful

Whole Foods Market is now carrying wild Alaskan salmon that’s been
approved by the Marine Stewardship Council, which promotes sustainable
fishing practices by rewarding fishermen and fisheries that practice
environmentally sound fishing methods. Wild Alaskan salmon is the first
North American seafood product to earn the council’s certification. The
council promotes fishing practices that allow a targeted fish population
to recover to healthy levels from past depletion and help maintain a
healthy marine ecosystem. On Saturday, Whole Foods Market will host a
special “Fish For Our Future” day in which local celebrity chefs will
demonstrate how to cook wild Alaskan salmon and will provide samples.
Recipes and information about seafood sustainability will also be in the
seafood department and throughout the store. Whole Foods Market is on the
lower level of Triangle Square at 1870 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa.

Cafe Pascal is having a special evening of wine, cheese and jazz from
