Tennis: Locals Advance to Round of 16

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Daud Ahmed and Larry Davidson, of Newport Beach,

advanced to the Round of 16 in the United States Tennis Association’s

Men’s 55s-65s Hard Court Championships, at Lindborg Racquet Club in

Huntington Beach.

In the 55s singles competition, Ahmed defeated Ray Price, 6-3, 6-1,

and Davidson scored a , 6-1, 1-6, 6-0 victory over John Wallen.

Newport Beach’s Doug McCrea was ousted in the Round of 32 when he lost

to Michael Stewart, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Costa Mesa’s Dick Lister lost in the third round in the 65s singles to

John Bennett.
