B.W. COOK -- THE LOOK
The high school prom is an important rite of passage for young people.
While some may claim that the entire scenario has become too extravagant,
no one can argue against the fact that prom night is an experience
remembered for a lifetime.
What is now and has probably always been fascinating is looking at the
clothing selected by the young women and men to express their individual
personality, style and point of view. The senior prom for Newport Harbor
High School unfolded this past Saturday evening, and the Look Cam
ventured up to Kings Road in Newport Beach to the home of Rush and Linda
Hill where a contingent of couples gathered for dinner overlooking the
harbor.
Here’s a look at what some of the young ladies wore to the 2001
Newport Harbor Senior Prom.

Kami Hindman is a showstopper in her black sheer gown from Helene at
the Apparel Gallery. The striped evening gown gives the impression that
it is a see-through number, when in fact it is lined with nude satin. All
eyes were on Kami, an 11th-grader at Newport Harbor High School.
LOOK 3
Nicole Haxby went to prom in an elegant and sophisticated two-piece
gown by Randolph Duke. A sexy sheer skirt in black-and-white houndstooth
silk chiffon is worn with a coordinating silk bodice with a plunging
back. Nicole is a 12th-grader, headed for UC Irvine in the fall.
LOOK 4
Lyndsee Fitzgeorge, a 12th-grader at Newport Harbor High School headed
to George Washington University in the fall, looks adorable in her
1940s-flashback, Polynesian-themed attire. Lyndsee chose a short dress by
Arden B to wear with her high platform shoes.
LOOK 5
Casey Hill, also a senior at Newport Harbor, was smashing in her
chocolate brown contemporary dress from Celine by designer Michael Kors.
The pretty blond senior is headed to the University of San Francisco in
the fall.
LOOK 6
Taryn Cox chose a turquoise gown by Laundry accented with a marabou
boa in coordinating turquoise. Taryn is a senior at Huntington Beach High
School, heading to Orange Coast College in the fall.
