Softball: Red Rage win Division 11 title

The Red Rage, a girls under-11 fastpitch softball team from the
Pacific Coast Bobby Sox, continued its winning ways by winning the
Division 11 championship Saturday.
In the championship game against the Mayhem Monkeys, the Red Rage
pulled out an 8-4 win. Key hits were provided by Lauren Tolfa and Brook
Peterson.
Throughout the playoffs, the Red Rage had important contributions from
Kate Baldoni, Katy Bekken, Ali Apgar, Adele Debatz, Annabel Farber and
Deanne Donato.
After the Division 11 Tournament, the Red Rage competed in the Bobby
Sox National League Championship Series and again, reached the title
game.
The road to the title game started with a 7-2 win over Bellflower.
Pitchers Rene Mycorn and Elena Redelsheimer combined to allow only two
runs through five innings, while Apgar and Bekken provided key RBI hits.
In the semifinals against Buena Park, the Red Rage prevailed, 6-4.
Mycorn pitched a complete game, while Bekken and Baldoni each came
through offensively.
After playing six games in six days, the Red Rage finally ran out of
gas and lost to Pico Rivera in the championship game, snapping their
23-game winning streak.
