NMPC: Sea Dogs have the last bite

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor Sea Dogs opened the playoffs
with a 9-6 comeback victory over the Corona del Mar Dodgers in
Newport-Mesa Pony Conference action (ages 13-14).
Pitcher Kevin Courvoisier struck out seven over four innings and
allowed only two earned runs for the Sea Dogs.
Trailing, 4-0, the Sea Dogs rallied for six runs, thanks to
consecutive singles by Cheyne Smith and Timmy Bodenhofer. A hard grounder
by Matt Paine, a triple by Michael Cantwell and a two-run double by
Courvoisier helped cap off the rally.
Smith and Tyler Parker closed out the final two innings on the mound
for the Sea Dogs.
In other NMPC action:
CdM Mets 8, Costa Mesa White Sox 3 - Despite seven strong innings from
White Sox pitcher Ryan Gleason, the Mets managed to pull out the
first-round playoff victory.
Blake Allred scored a run and had two RBIs for the Mets, while Matt
Silva, Blake Mathews, Rojer Ramillion, Josh Miller and Val Ivanitski each
added key hits.
Tom Money pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed only one earned run, while
Wes Presson pitched the final 3 2/3 and held the White Sox scoreless.
For the White Sox, Alex Pisarski was solid behind the plate, throwing
out two runners.
