Boys volleyball: Sailors’ Tippett Co-MVP
Newport Harbor High senior Blake Tippett, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter
who led the Sailors to the CIF Southern Section Division III boys
volleyball semifinals, has been named Co-Most Valuable Player in the Sea
View League by the circuit’s coaches.
Tippett, who shared the top honor with senior Kris Kraushaar from
league champion Irvine, is among four Sailors recognized. Tippett was a
second-team pick as a junior.
Senior middle blocker Christian Berg-Hansen, as well as junior setter
Loyd Wright, also represent the Sailors on the first team, while junior
Greg Perrine is the Tars’ lone second-team honoree.
Kraushaar shared league MVP honors with Newport Harbor’s Billy Clayton
last spring.
