VISALIA - The Orange Coast College baseball team dropped an 8-3
decision to the College of the Sequoias Friday to conclude the COS
Tournament.
Despite the 2-2 record at this year’s tournament, Coach John Altobelli
was pleased with the overall play of his squad.
“This week gave us an opportunity to play some guys who haven’t been
able to play in a while,” Altobelli said. “Today, our guys battled, but
we just went up against a tough pitcher and a tough team.”
COS (24-8) is ranked No. 1 in Northern California and opened up a 4-3
lead with two runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
Jake Garcia wrapped up a solid tournament with a three hits, including
two doubles. He finished the tourney 8 for 19.
The Pirates (22-10) will get back into Orange Empire Conference action
on Tuesday when they host Saddleback at 2 p.m.
